We offer treatment for scoliosis and kyphosis using the Schroth method and the SEAS approach.
The Schroth method utilizes specific exercises and corrective breathing techniques in attempt to improve imbalances of the body. As part of the evaluation, we determine your specific curve pattern and risk of progression. From information gathered during your initial evaluation (including x-ray assessment), we design a custom exercise program to address and correct your specific spinal abnormalities. Through elongation, expansion and strengthening techniques, we aim to slow or halt curvature progression, improve coordination and body awareness. The Schroth method has proven success in reducing cobb angles and often preventing surgery. http://www.schroth-barcelonainstitute.com/colorado.html
SEAS stands for Scientific Exercises Approach to Scoliosis. It too is a proven method of success in reducing the effects of scoliosis. Unlike Schroth which uses props to facilitate proper alignment, SEAS does not. SEAS relies mostly on active corrective techniques that students perform during functional tasks and intermittently in their daily life. SEAS is appropriate for low to medium-degree curves and tends to be easier to implement.
Christine has been trained in both methods. Both methods have value and sometimes one approach is more applicable or appropriate for your specific situation. Please contact Christine if you have specific questions or would like more information.
